ADP Mbozi is a not for profit Non-Governmental Organization registered under section 11(3) of Non-Governmental Act No. 24, of 2002 with a registration number 1639. The organization was established in 1986 as a food security project in Mbozi district. Since then the organization has grown in terms of interventions and coverage. To-date ADP Mbozi is a leader in facilitating socio-economic empowerment of marginalized rural and urban communities in Southern Highlands of Tanzania through the promotion of improved agriculture production and food utilization, entrepreneurship and market development, addressing challenges of environment and climate change and community empowerment on children issues, gender, HIV and AIDS and good governance. Moreover, the organization strives to strengthen its internal capacity in order to successfully implement the above-mentioned focus areas.
The headquarter of the organization is located in Vwawa town, about 70 km from Mbeya city and along the Dar Es Salaam – Lusaka highway.
Therefore the organization is inviting applications from qualified Tanzanians to vie for Agronomist post at ADP Mbozi using following general guidelines;-
1.1 Qualifications and Experience
- Must be a holder of Masters degree in Crop Science/Agronomy or a holder of Masters degree in the agriculture-related field plus a first degree in agriculture general or agronomy.
- At least five years of experience in working with NGO in a similar position.
- Must be computer literate, especially for word processing and data analysis.
- Must be willing to work extensively in rural areas.
- Must be vibrant, efficient and well-organized person with proven skills to manage a team of extension staff.
- Preferred age below 45 years.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili.
- Candidate with driving skills and valid driving license is an added advantage.
1.2 Duties and Responsibilities
- Closely work with farmers groups and innovative farmers (using generally accepted approaches such as participatory research and extension (PRE) who are experimenting with various technologies so as to assist them in:-
- Developing criteria for planning and designing on-farm trials.
- Ensure that on-farm trials are well managed and evaluated between staff and farmers themselves.
- Follow up on-farm trials.
- Guide the organization on proper methodologies of carrying out sustainable agricultural department activities.
- Monitor field activities with the aim of exerting impact and cost-effectiveness at different levels of the intervention logic (PPM/Logical framework).
- Develop and oversee a system of evaluating the performance of the sustainable agricultural department field activities.
- Provide on the job support to the extension workers.
- Supervise and assess the performance of extension staff.
- Conduct field visits to the project sites and prepare professional reports from such visits including recommendations for resolving operational constraints hence bring effective project implementation.
- Prepare various reports as and when required by management.
- Liaise with other departments so as to enhance the teamwork spirit in the organization.
- Participate in and contribute to ADP Mbozi policy debates and the general exchange of ideas and information which helps
- ADP Mbozi to develop as a learning organization.
- Institute a retrievable agricultural data base system.
- Advocate ADP Mbozi agricultural policies by means of seminars, exchange visits, methodologies and provision of information.
- Be involved in the facilitation workshops and seminars relating to ADP Mbozi.
- Liaise with the Farm Service Centre Managers/Agriculturists to make sure planned activities are executed accordingly.
- Identify areas in which the organization can collaborate with other actors for the purpose of promoting and achieving organization’s objectives
- Carry out any other task as assigned by the Executive Director whenever it is deemed necessary.

Marginalized communities are defined as all the people (smallholder farmers, Most Vulnerable Children, low-income women, widows and widowers ) who because of their position in the society are exploited and are unconscious of their abilities to bring about their own development and hence subjected to poverty.
