CHAI Tanzania is seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding technical capabilities to serve as Analyst in health financing. The Analyst will be involved in helping the Government of Tanzania to cater for a growing demand in contraceptives by developing a means to increase resources allocation which is proportional to the demand, and increase disbursement of funds for procurement of contraceptives to which will ultimately reduce donor’s dependence.

The Analyst will also be responsible in helping the Ministry of Health, Community, Development, Gender, Elderly and Children to identify other possible means of financing procurement of contraceptives by using other sources of funds from within Tanzania.

• Support the development of evidence to inform the Ministry of Health, Community, Development, Gender, Elderly and Children on health and economic benefits of investing in family planning
• Support the development of a mechanism that will ensure a continued increase of resources allocation and disbursement for procurement of contraceptives
• Support the identification of other possible sources of funding for contraceptives from within Tanzania
• Support the quantification and mapping of funding needs against available resources including helping the government to identify funding gaps in the procurement of contraceptives and access additional resources
• Provide support in additional areas, as requested by the Program Manager
• Any additional responsibilities identified by supervisor

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Economics or Finance or a health-related discipline
• Excellent problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills, including attention to detail and fluency in Microsoft Excel;
• Strong organizational skills;
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment;
• Ability to learn on the job quickly;
• Ability to navigate ambiguous and complex processes and be flexible;
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships;
• Strong communication skills, including the development of compelling presentations with the ability to translate technical content and results into formats suitable for various audiences;
• Strong skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word;
• Strong command of English and Swahili language required;
• Willingness to travel within Tanzania as needed

Advantage

• Previous work experience in public sector health financing and/or service benefits design
• Demonstrated experience building and analyzing quantitative models to inform decision-making, including experience developing or evaluating financial models;
• Demonstrated ability to identify key trends from complex data sets and translate them into clear advice for decision makers;
• Strategically minded, able to think creatively about long-term program objectives and the detailed steps necessary to achieve these goals
