Zambia Cargo and Logistics Limited is a freight and forwarding service provider wholly owned by the Government of Republic of Zambia under the Industrial Development Corporation in Lusaka, Zambia

Location: Dar es Salaam

Job Purpose: Looking for someone with knowledge of accounting, veracity in the critical financial and leadership skills of transformation, action planning, performance and total quality accounting with ability to manage accounting activities and report the financial information as per the financial regulations.

Responsibilities for the Role

• Providing daily/ weekly/ monthly reports of cargos and payments received from customers
• Verifying sales invoices and receipting respective payments by customers
• Close check an invoices before being approved and release. Also make follow up on all invoices approved if are released as per approval dates and produce weekly report on the same.
• Maintaining updated clients’ statements and do reminding those clients who are not timely paying.
• Reconciliation of trade debtors and generate age analysis on Monthly basis
• General ledger reconciliations
• Check the correctness of claims, invoice, retirements and other payment ensuring that they are supported by appropriate authority/evidence
• Inventories management functions i.e., preparation of items/ purchase requisition forms, issuing of items from store, keeping store records, receiving the purchases, posting purchase invoices in the system, preparing weekly report on usage etc.
• Verifying items billed against items ordered and received and reconciling the differences through follow-up with the vendor and/or other employees.
• Posting the retired imprest timely and remind an employee to make retirement as per guidance from ZCL manual.
• Computing the taxes owed and preparing tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.
• Preparing monthly bank reconciliations for all the bank accounts and submit them to the Supervisor for approval.
• Handling queries from customers and employees.
• Update the asset register timely.
• Assisting in any other financial duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

1. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
2. Holder of Professional Foundation Stage or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or equivalent qualifications from a reputable institution with minimum relevant experience of more than three (3) years.
3. Must be fully paid member of NBAA
4. Experience in accounting software
5. Strong time management skills and commitment to work
6. Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRs).
7. Knowledge of Freight and Forwarding industry is an added advantage
8. Effective oral and written communication skills.
9. Computer skills.
