ROLE PURPOSE:

Save the Children is seeking an Associate Technical Director for an anticipated five-year USAID-funded integrated RMNCAH health program.  This transformational program focuses on achieving improved health outcomes for women of reproductive age and children under five years old.  This RMNCAH health program’s main aim is to increase the demand for as well as utilization of quality RMNCAH services particularly women of reproductive age, youth (targeting Adolescent girls and young women) and children in the targeted regions. To achieve this, the Activity will improve access to quality-integrated services at health facility and community levels, improve the quality of service delivery at all levels, promote health seeking behaviors and strengthening an enabling policy environment and national level. The foundation of success for this program depends on working with a number of partners, multiple complementary USAID investments, and most importantly, the government of Tanzania.

This position is contingent upon donor approval and funding.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE

Save the Children has been operational in Tanzania since 1986 providing support to children through developmental and humanitarian relief programmes delivered in support of GoT priorities and policies, both directly and through local partners. Current programming focuses on child protection, child rights governance, education, maternal and newborn health, nutrition and emergency response. We currently have an operational presence in Dodoma, Morogoro, Iringa, Rukwa, Shinyanga, Zanzibar/Pemba, Songwe and Kibondo. We employ nearly 165 staff and have an annual operating budget of approximately $13-15 million.

Associate Technical Director will provide technical leadership and oversight for an upcoming five-year U.S. government funded integrated health project aiming to increase the demand for and use of quality integrated RMNCAH services in target regions, particularly by youth and women. The position will lead design and day-to-day management of technical assistance efforts to improve capacity of the Government of Tanzania to deliver quality reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, adolescent health and CECAP services at the facility and community level. The Associate Technical Director will work closely with technical implementation teams to ensure the project progresses towards expected results. S/he will also work with M&E staff to ensure project deliverables are monitored and course corrections are identified and implemented as appropriate. This position is contingent upon award by the donor.
