Business Systems & Planning Analyst
Job Purpose
The Business Systems & Planning Analyst is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and managing agriculture business systems for effective agriculture data analysis, focusing on components of the Planning, Forecasting, and Reporting Systems. They will also set up and maintain key statistics necessary to produce Strategic plans and Budget Revisions.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate installation of business systems and components, including effective systems integration (e.g., Cane Pro with other estate information management systems), to report on long-term and season trends, crush and production plans, meteorological, manpower, and other statistics and reports as required.
- Align agriculture business systems at the start of each season and ensure accurate information (Field disposition, Estimates, delivery data, etc.) throughout the season.
- Produce correct annual field disposition, harvest planning, and ripening program.
- Implement Resource Planners, Scenarios, and Op Charts in Cane Pro.
- Set up all Cane Pro modules and manage system updates as required.
- Set up systems for extracting, summarizing, and presenting data for planning, control, reporting, discussion purposes, or for Group Agriculture.
- Ongoing liaison with multiple internal and external parties, including ESA, SQR, and Group IT.
- Improve Agricultural data accuracy for the development of precise financial and production management decisions.
- Maintenance of Agricultural data in accordance with Centre standards.
- Build standardized, accurate reports within required timeframes (e.g., Resource Planners, Scenarios, and “Op Charts” in Cane Pro).
- Keep the scenarios up to date, liaising with SQR, technical resources, and line managers, in line with best practice.
- Address system faults with relevant parties.
- Arrange and conduct one-on-one or group trainings on the use of the Cane Pro system and other systems as required (e.g., Dashboard).
- Assign and modify user roles for Cane Pro and IDB as required.
- Oversee and conduct periodic checks on the data captured (cane deliveries, cutting and haulage contractors reports, material usage, planting reports and field disposition updates, seed-cane deliveries, processing of invoices into the ERP).
- Maintain an accurate Land Use Plan for the Estate.
- Produce the data necessary for strategic planning (AUC, seed-cane, varieties, irrigation systems data, etc.).
- Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies, and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
Minimum Requirements:
- BSc Agriculture or agricultural business systems/BSc Degree in Business IT or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience in data management, analysis, and data mining, as well as supervisory experience
- Report writing skills and data compilation. Ability to “tell the story” with data.
- Ability to build, develop, and manage teams effectively.
- Ability to work with a diverse customer base in the provision of service.
- Ability to capture, interpret, and analyze agricultural performance data.
- Proven track record within an ABFSugar Company, aligning with the company culture, is an added advantage.
Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be engaged on a permanent contract.
