POSITION: CHEMICAL AND PROCESS ENGINEER : (1 POST )
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL ENGINEER
WORKSTATION: KINYEREZI II GAS PLANT
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Responsible for administration of Water Treatment Plant (WTP). Test and analyze water, and all other related samples to determine the physical, chemical and bacteriologic components to comply for Heat recovery steam generators (HRSG)/boilers use.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Responsible for performing/evaluating water analysis tests and determine the proper water treatment required for efficient Heat recovery steam generator/boiler operation
b) Responsible for management of plant wastewater treatment system
c) Ensure that equipment works to its specification and appropriate capacities that meet Environmental compliance standards.
d) Responsible for operation and maintenance of water treatment plant equipment i.e. chemical dosing pumps, transfer pumps, bulk storage tanks, demineralized tanks, retention basin facilities, instrument air compressors, piping and electrical systems.
e) Conduct pre-job discussions before the start of the equipment maintenance activities.
f) Conduct in-house training to Laboratory Technicians for water treatment plant operation.
g) Collect data required to make improvements and modifications on WTP.
h) Initiate purchase of chemicals for water treatment equipment.
i) Investigate and troubleshoot water treatment plant and wastewater treatment system/process problems.
j) Preparation of management reports related to water treatment plant equipment operation & maintenance activities.
k) Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with health and safety legislation.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE JOB:
▪ Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Process Engineering or relevant Field from a recognized University/Institution
▪ Must have work experience in large water treatment plant equipment.
▪ He/she must be registered with relevant professional board.
