Shell Exploration and Production Tanzania Limited, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell Plc, is the operator of the deepwater blocks 1 and 4, offshore Tanzania. Following a successful exploration and appraisal campaign, a large enough quantity of gas has been discovered to underpin on the LNG project. Before further technical work will be undertaken, a commercial framework for the LNG Project needs to be agreed between the Investors (of Blocks 1&4 and Block 2) and the Government


We seek a Tanzanian national to fill the senior position of Commercial Manager Upstream


Working within the commercial team based in Dar es Salaam, the commercial manager upstream is accountable for the upstream commercial activities during the appraisal and development phases for blocks 1 and 4. The job holder shall provide advice to the general manager commercial and the vice-president is Africa on upstream and general asset commercial issues. A key aspect of the role will be a liaison with government, attending meetings with the Tanzanian petroleum development corporation(the NOC), PURA(the regulator), The ministry of energy, co-venturers, and other stakeholders, plus the analysis of how to best align with these stakeholders to support the project.

The Commercial Manager Upstream is accountable for the Upstream commercial activities during the appraisal and development phases for Blocks 1 and 4.
 
The job holder shall provide advice to the General Manager Commercial and the Vice President East Africa on upstream and general asset commercial issues.  A key aspect of the role will be a liaison with Government, attending meetings with the Tanzanian Petroleum Development Corporation,  the NOC, PURA, the regulator,  the Ministry of Energy, co-venturers and other stakeholders plus the analysis of how best to align with these stakeholders to best support the project.
 
The job holder reports to the GM Commercial, who is a member of the Asset Leadership Team [ALT] for Tanzania. The Commercial Managers (Upstream and Midstream) are expected to stand in for the GM Commercial on an as-needed basis.

It is intended that most of the work of the job holder will be in the Upstream segment but there will be close liaison and overlap with the Commercial Midstream.
