I. Background

WWF Tanzania is part of WWF (The World Wide Fund for Nature), an international non-governmental organization that deals with conservation of nature through a number of environmental management programmes. Our mission is to stop the degradation of the Planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

WWF Tanzania seeks to recruit a communications intern who will work closely with the communications team in implementing the SIDA Leading the Change: Civil Society, Rights, and Environment. The programme addresses issues of rights, capacity, and roles of communities and civil society in natural resource management, advocacy and participation in decision-making across all of the six thematic areas: wildlife, forests, oceans, freshwater, climate & energy, and food. All interventions are based on HRBA and equitable partnerships with the participating CSOs and communities. The programme desired change is People and communities in programme areas are effectively exercising their rights, controlling decisions and equitably receiving benefits from natural resources, and contributing to the sustainable management of key ecosystems and habitats.

II. Main Function

Under the technical guidance of Communications Officer the Communications intern will support in the delivery of outputs under the SIDA CSO Programme that are related to awareness-raising, communications and capacity strengthening in general; facilitating sharing knowledge, raising awareness and increase the programme visibility in the Ruvuma Landscape, partner institutions and other relevant stakeholders on issues relating to the conservation of natural resources.
