Job Description:
Position Summary: Under the direction of Chief Dental Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the provision of necessary dental care to patients that appear in the out-patient department with a variety of oral hygiene issues who would benefit from a dental intervention using the existing equipment and supplies
Qualifications and Experience:
- A holder of Ordinary Diploma in related field from recognized in.
- At least two years' experience in the same position from a reputable hospital
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Obtain a detailed dental history from patients and evaluate their medical history,
- Carry out a clinical examination of staff competence,
- Complete periodontal examination and charting and use indices to screen and monitor periodontal disease,
- Diagnose and treatment plan within staff competence, prescribe radiographs, take, process and interpret various film views used in general dental practice,
- Plan the delivery of care for patients, give appropriate patient advice,
- Provide preventive oral care to patients and liaise with dentists over the treatment of caries, periodontal disease, and tooth wear,
- Provide dental health education to the patients
- Carry out a range of procedures, including: intra and extraoral assessment, scaling and polishing, applying materials to teeth such as fluoride and fissure sealants, taking dental radiographs, providing dental health education on a one-to-one basis or in a group situation, undertaking routine restorations in both deciduous (previously known as baby teeth) teeth and permanent teeth, on adults and children, extracting deciduous (baby) teeth under local infiltration analgesia
