JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the implementation of the Mission and Vision of the Rural Energy Agency (REA) as well as its strategic direction, operations, and overall functions, as stipulated in the Rural Energy Act.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the technical aspects of procurement of the services of consultants and contractors;
- Work closely with the financial sector to promote modern rural energy financing that will support the REF’s own lending activities;
- Act as the focal point for coordination between REA, REB, consultants, private investors contractors, and other stakeholders;
- Advising REA and Board on all aspects of the energy projects;
- Work closely with project manager and project officers in appraising projects and ensuring their preparation for REB approval;
- Work closely with the training and capacity building manager to develop both in-house (internal) and external training and capacity building programs;
- Liaise closely with international donors and non-governmental organizations to promote the REF and generate support for the rural energy program;
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director-General.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A holder of Masters Degree in engineering (energy-related);
- Related education and training (such as electrical, hydro or industrial engineering, construction management, etc);
- Familiarity with engineering standards for energy projects in Tanzania;
- Computer literacy will be required, and
- A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in energy projects;
