DCB Commercial Bank Plc is a fully-fledged retail and commercial bank in Tanzania. The bank offers banking services to Individuals, Microfinance, Small to Medium sized Businesses (MSME), as well as large corporate clients. DCB Bank has a wide branch network of over 8 branches, over 700 DCB Wakala Agents, and over 280 Umoja switch ATMs serving over 3 million customers across the country.

We are looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Director, Retail Banking. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing business strategy and tactical plans, inline with the market opportunity/growth potential, competitor activity, existing capabilities, risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving the bank’s profitability by growing a balanced portfolio within the retail segment by ensuring growth and diversification of the bank’s liabilities as per bank’s annual targets; and initiating partnerships to drive profitable products with key partners.
• Growing the retail business through retention, generic growth, acquisition of new customers, activation of dormant accounts.
• Leading a lean and effective branch network, direct sales, agency relationships and workplace banking teams.
• Supervising and monitoring the branches’ profitability and NPL/potential NPL.
• Identifying growth opportunities and working with the marketing and product development team design, price and launch tailored products/services for retail, SME and high-value customers; and monitor their performance.
• Developing and implementing channels’ utilisation plans, optimizing online, ATMs, and mobile banking platforms to provide customers with a seamless banking experience.
• Creating a service culture within the branches and ensure adherence to the service standards and that all staff observe internal and external TATs and SLAs.
• Developing and sustaining effective business relationships with clients and other stakeholders; and maintaining visible, active and positive presence in the market.
• Reviewing existing policies, operational systems, procedures and ensure strong internal controls and high levels of compliance with procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Managing function, branch network and staff performance including operational efficiency, growth targets, budget, net promoter score and staff engagement.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business or any other related qualification.
• Ten years’ experience in the financial services sector of which at least five must be in retail banking.
• Five years’ experience in a senior management level in a similar sized organisation.
• In-depth knowledge of the banking industry, banking products, services and regulations. Thorough working knowledge of retail and business environment and practices in Dar es Salaam including competitor landscape.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven experience in driving performance including strong market selling ability and credit analysis skills.
• Positive track record in building and maintaining business relationship and network.
