Overall Purpose of the Job
The Environment officer will ensure the compliance services in the time and provide environmental advice on local issues in relation to environmental monitoring and compliance in line with established internal policies, procedures and external regulatory frameworks

Main Areas of Responsibility
• Maintain and update the Environmental database with accurate and relevant contents
• Ensure that environmental policies and procedures are reviewed, updated and improved on
• Ensure that Environmental processes are implemented effectively e.g waste and water management, rehabilitation and environmental awareness
• Provide weekly, monthly quarterly sampling information
• Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual environmental Report including statutory reports
• Assist with incident/accident investigation as required
• Provide advice in terms of
o Incident Management
o Blasting Process
o Air Management
o Flora and Fauna
o Ground water and surface water management
o Waste, water and chemical management
o Community awareness
o Rehabilitation and closure
• Conduct Environmental Awareness Training sessions
• Assist with environmental projects, ensuring that they are completed on schedule and in budget
• Focusing on Environmental monitoring (e.g water, ponds, trenches)
• Assist in Health and safety duties

Minimum requirements of the job
Formal education and professional qualifications
• Degree in Environmental Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Relevant working experience
• Minimum three years’ experience in Environmental issues
Other relevant skills/experience
• Knowledge in data entry software
• Fire safety and Risk Management Certificate
• Understands the regulatory authorities compliances (OSHA, EWURA,
NEMC)
• Report writing skills (Good in Microsoft word, excel and PPT)
• Team player; Relevant personal traits
