Alliance Life Assurance Ltd, established in 2010 as the first locally privately owned life insurance company in Tanzania, is a leading insurance and financial services provider in East Africa. The company is highly rated for its leadership, innovation, customer service, and risk management. Alliance Life is expanding its operations, and we are looking for an experienced General Manager Retail Distribution to oversee our retail distribution operations across Tanzania.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sales & Distribution Strategy: Drive sales and distribution strategies for the individual life business.
- Staffing and Training: Recruit and train sales staff according to the staffing plan and business requirements.
- Product Development: Lead product development strategy, from ideation and market feasibility studies to pricing, development, and product launches.
- Direct Sales Management: Oversee direct sales through online and digital platforms, focusing on increasing direct business and minimizing distribution costs.
- Partnership Channels: Drive sales through partnership channels, including bancassurance, brokers, and agencies.
- Customer Retention: Manage the retention of new customers with a target conversion rate of 90% for the entire portfolio.
- Profitability: Ensure retail business profitability through increased production, optimized costs, and growing online and digital business.
- End-to-End Retail Distribution Process: Oversee and manage the entire retail distribution process.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in driving retail sales in a life insurance company.
- Managed a minimum life insurance sales portfolio of TZS 15 billion.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing a profit center function.
- At least 5 years of experience managing partnership channels (bank or large broker).
- Over 10 years of experience in managing distribution teams of 200 or more people, including remote teams.
- Experience in online/digital sales is an added advantage.
- Advanced understanding of financial statements.
- Minimum qualifications: Associate diploma from ACII UK, III India, or LOMA USA; CIM Degree, MBA in Sales & Marketing or General Management; or graduate from a recognized university.
