HEAD OF LEGAL SERVICE UNIT
Job Summary
The Head of Legal Service Unit will oversee all legal matters for the Bodi ya Taifa ya Wahasibu na Wakaguzi wa Hesabu Tanzania (NBAA).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee maintenance and custody of legal documents.
- Maintain and update court case diary and handle legal correspondence.
- Administer follow-up of court documents and proceedings.
- Administer registration of mortgages, deeds of transfers, probate matters, and other necessary documents.
- Sort and distribute legal documents, maintain a register of court cases.
- Review drafts of legal documents, forms, opinions, and briefs.
- Review contracts, leases, loan agreements, and other legal documents.
- Review evidence for court cases and prosecution papers.
- Review recommendations for amending/repealing legislation and regulations.
- Participate in legal reviews with other institutions, provide legal advice.
- Provide legal advice and opinions.
- Liaise with the Attorney General's office on legal matters and court proceedings.
- Represent the Board in all legal matters/litigations.
- Advise on consistent administration of the Board's establishing Act, interpret and advise on other relevant laws.
- File and appear for criminal proceedings in courts.
- Participate in legal negotiations, witness contracts, and advise on contractual obligations.
- Liaise with external legal agencies (in consultation with the CEO).
- Coordinate vetting of all legal documents from outside the Board.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master's Degree in Law (LL.M) from a recognized institution.
- Completed internship or relevant training from the Law School of Tanzania.
- Registered as an Advocate of the High Court.
- Master's Degree must be related to Bachelor's Degree.
