Position Summary: The Logistics Manager will report to the Program Manager and manage a small logistics team for the management and delivery of all logistics related activities, with specific responsibility for team and program support activities, office, communications, procurement, and fleet management logistic needs. This position will provide services in multiple medical clinic and refugee sites.

Medical Teams International Refugee Response Program – Kibondo, Tanzania

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work closely with partners to ensure best practices and compliance with all aspects of logistics.
• Lead the procurement planning process, and support partners logistics staff in identifying needs as required by the project.
• Use relevant field logistics guidelines in accordance to MTI policies and procedures and industry best practices.
• Ensure donor compliance for local purchases are observed and adhered to in all procurement activities.
• Participate in verification team of the receivables, purchased goods and services in the project areas.
• Follow up and regularly evaluate the supply chain management system, including a database to track monthly consumption of drugs, medical consumables and materials.
• Maintain functional transport means for all staff, including vehicle allocation and fleet management.
• Install and maintain office support equipment.
• Install and maintain cold chain equipment.
• Perform security tasks delegated to logistics, e.g. updating of the security guidelines, security briefings etc.
• Ensure security incident report forms are completed and submitted to the Program Manager in a timely manner.
• Maintain contact with the project locations for security information and issues.
• Provide sufficient and functioning communication equipment to all staff and maintain communications guideline in accordance with Medical Teams International policy.
• Update Program Manager with progress overview weekly and as needed.
• Develop a database of preferred suppliers of goods and services to support Medical Teams International country program, in coordination with partners.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Program Manager
• Committed to the values and principles of Medical Teams International.
• Fluent in English and Swahili.
• Knowledgeable of computers including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• At least 5 years’ experience in logistics (procurement, tendering, contracting, clearance, transport, warehousing, asset management).
• Demonstrated understanding of donor specific logistics procedures and grant requirements.
• Demonstrated agility in thinking between logistical and creative ways of working and problem solving
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supplies or related field study, such as completion of the Certification in Humanitarian and or Medical Logistics.
• Experience in, and the ability to provide, input to timely complete and accurate reports.
• Proven ability to work in resource limited environments.
• Experience deducing needs of core relief items, medicines and medical supplies.
• Demonstrated ability to work well as a part of a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
