LOCATION: NORTHERN, SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS, LAKEZONE, COASTAL REGIONS

Job Summary

The role of the Medical Doctor (Dialysis) is to provide clinical leadership and oversight within the dialysis unit, in collaboration with other unit team members. It is the role of the MD to manage the medical care of all dialysis patients, attending to complications that arise during dialysis and ensuring continuity of care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide clinical leadership and manage the medical care of dialysis patients.
• Perform rounds, assess patients pre- and post-dialysis, and address complications.
• Manage patient medications, educate and counsel patients, and ensure continuity of care.
• Respond to emergency calls, patient assessments, and consult on renal patients in various units.
• Maintain accurate medical records, comply with regulations, and complete necessary documentation.
• Collaborate closely with the nephrologist, nursing team, and hospital staff.
• Support administrative tasks, including patient paperwork, NHIF forms, and monthly reports.
• Attend and participate in unit meetings, CME sessions, and hospital activities.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, confidentiality, and dress code.
• Assist in procedures, emergency care, and nutritional assessments for dialysis patients.
• Support visiting professionals and contribute to a positive clinical environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct Reports):

• None

Desired Competencies:

• Doctor of Medicine degree from a recognised university.
• Registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika and having an active practicing licence.
• Prior training in dialysis is preferred but not a must.
• Familiarity with health and safety/ quality standards.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office Applications.
• Outstanding problem-solving skills.
• Passion for AHN’s Mission.
