OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The objectives of the HIV, TB and viral hepatitis programmes is to support the country to develop policies and programmes, build capacity for the delivery of the health sector response to the epidemics of HIV, TB and viral hepatitis. The officer to be recruited in this position will also support national professional officers in the disease control related programmes.

Required Qualifications

Education

Essential: Degree in medicine, and post-graduate training in Infectious diseases/internal medicine/public health

Desirable: Training in Epidemiology, statistics and/or Public Health Management

Experience

Essential: At least 7 years' experience in managing implementation and or supporting health programmes; 5 years specifically in the area of HIV and/or TB with at least 3 years working at international level. Experience with Global Fund processes including proposal development and programming experience in WHO or an international organization preferably in the UN system.

Desirable: Experience in health programme reviews and evaluation

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 77,326 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 2842 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
