The Role
The Monitoring Assistant, working with minimal supervision, is responsible for producing well-organized and accurate technical work and reports. They may also offer guidance on standard practices to other staff and counterparts within their area of expertise. This position is based in Kasulu, Sub Office and reports to the Monitoring Associate in consultation with Head of Field Office and Head of RAM.
Key Accountabilities
- In consultation with Head of Field Office and Head of RAM, support preparation and implementation of monthly monitoring plans.
- Monitor WFP project activities to meet minimum monitoring requirements and support timely project implementation.
- Coordinate data collection exercises at the field level.
- Support the collection of process, output and outcome monitoring data.
- Work closely with sub-national Government, NGOs, CSOs, and cooperating partners to collect and summarize data.
- Prepare process monitoring reports and monitor and update Monitoring and Programme teams on the status of action items.
- Ensure that issues identified are properly recorded and escalated; support issues resolution.
- Keep track of monitoring visits and coverage.
- Suggest improvements to field monitoring processes and procedures.
- Provide standard trainings for cooperating partners.
- Assist in organizing technical support missions.
- Ensure alignment with corporate monitoring standards.
- Ensure ethical guidelines are followed.
- Work with Complaints and Feedback Mechanism (CFM) manager to coordinate information.
- Provide regular updates to monitoring tracking sheets.
- Support the supervisor in compiling inputs for reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
Completion of secondary school education is required. A post-secondary certificate is desirable. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant monitoring and/or operational experience.
- Experience working with technical teams.
- Experience in implementing programmes in support of food assistance.
- Experience in dealing with horticultural crops.
- Experience in applying sustainable farming systems.
Knowledge and Skills
- Data analytical knowledge and skills.
- General knowledge of monitoring systems.
- Compilation, analysis, and presentation of data using software such as Excel, SPSS, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in direct implementation or field monitoring of community projects.
- Problem-solving skills.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Swahili languages.
