Plumbing Technician
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interprets plumbing drawings and specifications to determine layout requirements for plumbing works
- Reviews blueprints, building codes or specifications to determine work details and procedure.
- Identifies potential problems to prevent premature and/or unexpected breakdowns/callbacks for the plumbing works
- Performs industrial, institutional and commercial fire sprinkler suspended plumbing services.
- Performs residential and light commercial service to diagnose and resolve plumbing issues.
- Inspects high-pressure, air, steam and water systems to ascertain malfunctions.
- Repairs or replaces plumbing fixtures, tests joints and pipe systems including WCs, HWBs etc
- Studies building plans and inspects structures to assess material and equipment needs, establish sequence of pipe installations, and plan installation around obstructions.
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, fuse, ream, assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings and install pipe and pipe fittings.
- Locates and marks position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, or fixtures in structures.
- Installs pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances or fixtures using hand or power tools.
- Submits all complete paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
- Attends weekly departmental meetings.
- Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools in a safety-conscious manner.
- Explains to the client each service performed each time a maintenance or repair is completed and ensures complete customer satisfaction
- Maximizes lead opportunities based on the company's business plan.
- Always maintains a professional image by: Wearing only company-approved apparel, Following safety policies and procedures, abiding by all company standards of performance and code of ethics and respecting the customer’s property.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Must have a minimum of three years of verifiable plumbing experience in a residential, commercial and or industrial plumbing services and maintenance operation.
- Knowledge of local and national plumbing codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Basic change order cost-estimating experience.
- Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Must poses Diploma or higher in plumbing or water infrastructures from recognized institutions
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Working Environment
The work condition characteristics describe here are representatives of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
- A portion of work takes place in both indoor and outdoor settings in extreme temperatures including heat, cold and temperature swings and inclement weather. Subject to sunburn and other sun exposure related incidents.
- Exposure to traffic, dust, fumes and loud noises may be encountered.
- Work may include working oh high heights below the roof trusses
Physical Demands
The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
- Must possess the ability to access remote sites that may require climbing and traversing rough terrain, possibly in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to sit, stand or walk for significant periods of time daily. Required to reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Lift and/or carry, pull, push or drag up to 35kg
- Must possess general manual dexterity to operate computer, equipment, tools, controls or other objects; reach with hands or arms.
- Must be able to use step stools and ladders to store and retrieve items of various sizes, shapes and forms.
- Must possess mental acuity for attention to accuracy and detail.
- Must see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
- Must hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
- Must be able to hear clearly when working around equipment and traffic.
