The Programme Assistant is located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Country Office (TCO). 

This position is under the overall guidance and leadership of the Representative and direct supervision of the Programme Specialist Health Systems with inputs from the International Operations Manager.

3. Job Purpose

The Programme Assistant supports the design, planning, and management of UNFPA’s country program by providing and managing data inputs, providing logistical support, monitoring project implementation, and following up on recommendations. 

The Programme Assistant applies established systems and procedures and assists in the creation of substantive knowledge by compiling, synthesizing, and analyzing information relevant to population and development, reproductive health, and gender issues. 

S/he is instrumental in facilitating program/ project implementation using and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with established procedures.

The Programme Assistant maintains collaborative relationships with all operations, program, and project staff at the CO.  The Programme Assistant maintains collaborative relationships with UNFPA IPs. Internal contacts include the Assistant Representative, the Programme Specialists, the Programme Analysts, the CO’s program/ technical team, and the CO’s administrative management team.

6. Job Requirements

Academic Requirements:

Completed Secondary Level Education required 

First-level university degree in Project planning Management, Business Management, Public health, and/or other related social science fields is an added value.

Knowledge and Experience: 

Languages: 

Fluency in Kiswahili and English is required. Knowledge of any other UN languages is an added value.

Computer skills:

Proficiency in current Microsoft Office Software Applications and corporate IT systems. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP, Docusign, AoDOCs, iDocs, etc.). Quantum knowledge is an added value.
