The ILO Country Office in Dar es Salaam covers Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda.
The Office implements the mandate of the ILO within the sub-region, including the delivery of technical cooperation in collaboration with other ILO technical departments and social partners in the five countries. The office continues to provide, at national level, technical guidance and institutional capacity building support to the Government and social partners to achieve the goal of decent work for all through a combination of integrated policy, programme and advocacy action. The ILO Country office Dar es Salaam currently seeks to recruit a highly qualified, motivated, and experienced Driver.
During this biennium, the office has received Funds from the Government of Norway to support constituents in designing and implementing labour market relevant skills development strategies through the SKILLS UP project. The project works with national partners in both mainland and Zanzibar under the overall coordination and management of Project manager with relevant support staff.
In this regard, the project is seeking qualified and experienced driver to assist the project with logistics. Under the overall supervision of the country Director, The Driver will be directly reporting to the Project manager and working closely with the Finance and Administrative Unit to assist in the driving, maintaining official motor vehicles for the project and other vehicles under Country office in Dar es Salaam Tanzania as might be assigned.
Under the overall responsibility of the ILO/CO Director in Dar es Salaam, the incumbent will report directly to the Project Manager, under the guidance of the Finance and Administrative Officer. The candidate will be based in Dar es Salaam.
Completion of primary education, NIT Certificate in defensive driving, valid driving licence, knowledge of Tanzania driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
NIT VIP Advanced Drivers Course will be an added advantage
2 years’ work experience as a driver with a safe driving record in similar context of project.
Excellent command of English and Kiswahili is required.
A high level of driving and vehicle repair and maintenance skills. Proven ability to keep accurate records of the use of vehicle. Proven ability to drive safely in local traffic conditions. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to undertake minor vehicle repair. Ability to lift heavy mail bags and boxes. Ability to take initiatives. Ability to work in a polite, courteous and cooperative manner. Ability to handle, track and keep office records. Ability to respect confidences. Ability to make realistic commitments and taking follow-up action where necessary. Ability to communicate clearly such as speaking and writing clearly and effectively.
