Children’s Book Project for Tanzania (CBP) is a Non-Governmental Organization duly registered under the law of Tanzania. It is an independent, non-profit whose mission is to develop and promote children’s literacy and culture of reading and writing through making quality reading materials available and accessible, empowering teachers with appropriate sensitization skills and teaching methodologies, policy advocacy and promoting stakeholder engagement partnership.

CBP is largely supported by international organizations, foundations implementing programme including Readership, Child rights and Child protection and professional teacher development and production of children’s books.

In collaboration with UNICEF, CBP is implementing a one-year project titled: Developing Learner Friendly Classrooms in Mbeya, Songwe and Njombe regions. The project is focusing on transforming Pre-Primary into learner friendly, classrooms. In order to deliver this project, CBP/UNICEF is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and competent Project Technical Coordinator.

 

JOB OBJECTIVES

Purpose of the job: Under the supervision of the Executive Secretary, the Project Technical Coordinator, provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance through the planning process to delivery of results, preparing, executing, managing, and implementing a variety of technical and administrative tasks to facilitate effective implementation, project progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting to achieve the project goals.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  1. Work closely and collaborate with internal and external colleagues and partners (including regional secretariats, districts authorities, and schools) to discuss and implement project activities and provide required technical support and coordination. Prepare activity reports, monthly reports, and quarterly reports.
  2. Participate in program reviews with government partners and other counterparts to assess the project and share learning experience and achievement of the project.
  3. Monitor and report on the use of provided support and follow up on unresolved issues to ensure resolutions
  1. Conduct regular project fields visit, mobilize community and schools to ensure effective classroom transformation into simulating learning environment, assess progress and provide technical support.
  2. Build and sustain an effective close working partnership with government counterparts through active sharing of information and knowledge to facilitate project implementation and build the capacity of stakeholders to achieve and sustain results, ensure effective communication and networking developed and maintained through partnership and collaboration.
  3. Develop and document best practices resulted from the implementation of project activities and contribute to identifying, capturing and sharing lessons learn for knowledge development, and document success stories for every quarter.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor degree in one of the disciplines: Education, Literacy, community mobilization, Business Administration, and Social Sciences.
  2. At least 3 years working experience in NGOs – particularly on education and literacy
  3. Experience in community engagement and participatory methodologies.
  4. Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of Education projects.
  5. Knowledge of educational policies and strategies and working within local government structure.
