Overview

The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) is a quasi-independent Government body responsible for regulating the Communications and Broadcasting sectors in Tanzania. It was established under the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Act No.12 of 2003 to regulate the electronic communications, and Postal services, and management of the national frequency spectrum in the United Republic of Tanzania. The Authority became operational on 1st November 2003 and effectively took over the functions of the now-defunct Tanzania Communications Commission (TCC) and Tanzania Broadcasting Commission (TBC) respectively.

For effective implementation of its duties and responsibilities the Authority hereby invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the following vacancies in its establishment.

Job Position: SENIOR MUSEUM CURATOR II (Three Positions)

Duties and Responsibilities

• To develop strategies for collection, maintenance, storage and documentation of archaeological assets related to Postal. Broadcasting and ICTs.
• Collect and organize intangible assets related to communication, broadcasting, postal services, etc..
• Participate in conducting research in conservation of assets related to communication, broadcasting, postal services;
• Participate in the assessment and evaluation of potential assets related to communication, broadcasting, postal services.
• Advise on reform of cultural heritage legislation.
• Conduct community sensitization on issues pertaining to research and conservation of communication, broadcasting, postal services assets, etc.
• Create and review designs, concepts and sample layout of exhibits.
• Participate in the publication of relevant academic and scientific articles on cultural heritage for consumption by other experts.
• Participate in the rehabilitation and maintenance and storage of communication, broadcasting, postal services assets, etc
• Design and implement educational programs on the value of antiquities to communication, broadcasting and postal service.
• Participate in creation of museum themes and exhibits.
• Organize and facilitate exhibition of intangible assets.
• Keep record of all researches/studies in soft and hard copies, and ensure the same are uploaded in the TCRA Database.
• Assist in developing strategies on professional networking and partnership on cultural heritage development nationally and internationally
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications

Holder of Master Degree in Archives, Archaeology, Museum Management, Anthropology or equivalent qualifications from recognized institution with working experience of at least seven (7) years in related field.

• Personable, persuasive and able to read others.
