Transmission Planning Manager (Grade 12)
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible to plan, dimension, procure, maintain and optimize a multi-vendor & Multi-technology transmission network for the sustainability of TIGO transport layer and network at large.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Transmission plan (including synchronization)
- To produce, maintain and implement a 5 years transmission expansion plan (incl. network design, CAPEX forecast, procurement timeline) supporting radio and core expansion plans.
- The plan shall be aligned with performance and redundancy requirements.
- The plan must include all the requirements for radio access, core and enterprise business
CAPEX planning, implementation, and tracking
- To advise on vendor strategy for transmission equipment.
- To support Capital Acquisition Request preparation for all transmission related matters.
- To ensure procurement activities deadlines are met for transmission network.
Transmission database and change management process implementation
- To maintain a centralized database will all transmission equipment, network configuration etc...
- To ensure that any change in the transmission network is reflected in the database.
Transmission optimization
- Define all Transmission engineering guidelines and implement them.
- Review system features and implements the selected features through the operation team.
- Monitor the capacity (especially for IP RAN/CORE, and local interconnect) and put in place the
required expansion plans. - Mitigate interference in the existing network and advise the optimal use of the spectrum to achieve the most cost-effective network.
- Coordination with IP layer domain for effective routing and efficient utilization of the resources and Quality of Service (QOS) definition
- Monitor and Evaluate the Transmission Network Capacity for all the backbones and critical links and put plans to fix any observed issues through operations.
Technology watch
- To look into technical alternatives (new technology, other best practices from MIC operations) to achieve transmission requirements in a more efficient way
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of Transmission Planning with diverse experience in working on a Multi - vendors and Multi-technology environment varying from Microwave, Fiber, Satellite, etc.
- University degree in Telecommunication Engineering// Electronics and Communication / or related areas
- Master’s Degree is an added advantage
- Expertise in Transmission planning tools and capacity monitoring and provisioning
