North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit an Underground Mobile Equipment Superintendent to join the North Mara team. The successful candidate for this position will carry out assigned coordination maintenance of the underground mobile machinery to ensure that equipment is safe, reliable, and available to meet production targets on-time and at optimum cost by following the guidelines of Company Standard Operating Procedures and best Practice as well as other assigned tasks within the range of competencies.

The position will report to Underground Maintenance Engineer.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Compliance
• Overall management of the Underground Mobile Equipment maintenance section.
• Responsibility for the rollout of underground mobile equipment maintenance strategies to minimise equipment downtime and ensure reliability of equipment.
• Implement and monitor adherence to engineering standards, taking corrective action where necessary.
• Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering processes and systems.
• Implement action plans to achieve the mining strategy and business plans.
• Driving reliability KPI’s of permanent employees, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure plant, machinery and equipment availability, reliability and optimisation.
• Financial / Budget Control pertaining to maintenance activities.
• Managing change processes pertaining to any deviations with maintenance activities and work scope
• Implementation of continuous improvement and business improvement initiatives by keeping abreast of developments and introducing change in work processes where appropriate (cost reductions and cost avoidances).
• Ensuring continuous improvement in the setup of the mobile equipment maintenance organization, required workshop tools, work procedures and inventory spare parts
• Identifying, implementing and reviewing equipment strategies, including quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of all results.
• Preparing the longer-term training program to keep all mechanical maintenance personnel up-to date in technical upgrades and improvements to maintenance techniques
• Budget preparation and control during the execution of repair and maintenance activities 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:

• Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification
• Engineering Supervisory training
• Advantageous: BEng/BSc/BTech/Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical discipline.

Experience Requirements:

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience as an Engineering Superintendent in a underground mine environment, preferably in an operation that utilizes caving and/or long hole drilling methods.  
• Mechanical and Electrical experience will be an advantage.
• Project management experience would be highly advantageous.
• Experience with
  • Articulated Dump Trucks i.e. SANDVIK TH540, TH550, TH551i, TH663i
  • Load Haul Dumpers i.e. Caterpillar 2900G, SANDVIK LH517i and LH621i
  • Development Drill Rigs SANDVIK DD421, DD42
  • Longhole Stope Drill Rigs SANDVIK DL311 and DL420
  • Caterpillar 930 & 962 Wheel Loaders, D8, 9 and 10 Dozers and 16M Graders
  • Normet and McClean utility vehicles
  • Toyota Land Cruisers
• Experience in the maintenance of Sandvik, AutoMine®, OptiMine® and/or RCT TMM equipment and technology would be advantageous
