Job Summary

The Jane Goodall Institute Tanzania (JGI-TZ) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to wildlife research, conservation, environmental education, and community-centered development. Established in 2001 by Dr. Jane Goodall, JGI-TZ works to protect chimpanzees and their habitats in Dar es Salaam, Kigoma, Mpanda, Mwanza, Arusha, Dodoma, and Zanzibar. JGI-TZ collaborates with government authorities, research institutions, and conservation partners to drive impactful change. Through conservation programs in villages and district forest reserves, JGI-TZ continues Dr. Goodall’s legacy of inspiring hope and action for people, animals, and the environment.

The Zonal Roots & Shoots Coordinator – Zanzibar will provide leadership and oversight for the implementation of the Roots & Shoots program in Zanzibar (Unguja & Pemba), ensuring alignment with the goals and objectives of JGI Tanzania. This role is firmly established in the philosophy of compassion, action, and making a difference. The coordinator will inspire and empower children, young people, educators, and volunteers at the Jambiani Nature Centre, Zanzibar Scholarships, and implement environmental education initiatives while fostering collaboration with key stakeholders, including local government, universities, and conservation partners.
