ICT Administrator
The ICT Administrator will be responsible for managing and supporting the institution’s information and communication technology systems. This role involves overseeing the implementation and maintenance of ICT infrastructure, providing technical support to staff, and ensuring that ICT systems align with the institution’s strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Tasks and responsibilities
- Ensure the ICT strategy and policies are always updated and well implemented.
- Ensure the information security measures are in place, up to date and well implemented.
- Building capacity of ICT team and non-ICT staff on various ICT solutions.
- Manage and administer remote and local servers.
- Being a custodian of all other ICT systems and ensuring the implementations are as per institution’s ICT policies in terms of system’s security, data protection and recovery plan.
- Develop the ICT’s yearly plan and budget and monitor its implementation.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software.
- Ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of the organisation’s ICT systems.
- Manage network infrastructure, including servers, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Support the Communications section to maintain and update the institution’s website.
- Support other sections including Finance, M&E and others to ensure the respective online platforms are maintained and updated.
- Provide technical support to staff, including troubleshooting hardware, connections, and software issues.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on the use of ICT systems and tools.
- Manage and resolve ICT-related incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
- Monitor system performance and implement necessary upgrades.
- Ensure regular backups and recovery procedures are in place and tested.
- Support the implementation of ICT-related projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify ICT needs and provide solutions.
- Assist in the evaluation and selection of new technology tools, equipment, and software.
- Maintain accurate documentation of ICT systems, procedures, and inventory.
- Prepare regular reports on ICT performance, incidents, and improvements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
- Assist in procurement of ICT equipment and services, by providing the specifications as required by the institution procurement policies.
Knowledge and experience
- Professional ICT-certifications.
- Well-founded Windows knowledge.
- Hands-on experience of installing IT hardware and software.
- Work experience with Windows servers and cloud-based email server.
- Good knowledge on Cent Os, PHP, Maria DB and Apache web server.
- Good command of English and Kiswahili.
- Administrative skills including communication.

Qualifications
1. Educational Background:
- Degree: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or additional post-graduate qualifications will be an added advantage.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or advanced certifications like Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) can be valuable.
2. Relevant Training:
Training or coursework in project management, cybersecurity, data management, or software development might be beneficial.
