JOB SUMMARY
The accountant will be responsible for all financial transactions, audits, reconciling bank statements, and ensuring financial records are accurate throughout the year.
Position: Accountant
Location: Dar-es-salaam
Reports to: Senior Accountant
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling accounts payable and receivable;
- Producing error-free accounting reports and present their results;
- Analyzing financial information and summarizing financial status;
- Maintains accounts in accounting activities as cash sales, credit sales, CRV, receivable and collection
- Prepares financial statement, payroll calculation, reconciliation bank statement, vender ledger with payable accounts and stock balance with subsidiary ledger;
- Ensures the recording of description, location, value and other pertinent information of all company’s equipment, buildings and other property
- Analyze costs of raw materials and other supplies and create cost-benefit analyses;
- Classify costs accurately and establish standard costs and update them as appropriate;
- Manage junior accountants and bookkeepers;
- Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process;
- Provide input into department’s goal setting process;
- Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule;
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns;
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance;
- Compute taxes and prepare tax returns
- Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
- Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
- Audit financial transactions and documents
- Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary
- Comply with financial policies and regulations
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least 4 years’ Work experience as an Accountant in similar positions, preferably in Telecommunication Industry
- Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Certified Accounting practice
- Hands-on experience with accounting software like QuickBooks
- Good knowledge of MS office and MS Excel skills
- Highly detail oriented and organized in work
- Self-motivation, commercial awareness, initiative and the ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, technical, IT and numerical abilities are crucial.
