CARE began working in Tanzania in April 1994, responding to the crisis in Rwanda and the subsequent influx of refugees into the Kagera Region of North-western Tanzania. Over the years, CARE Tanzania developed innovative education, health, microfinance, and environmental programs across most regions of the country. In Tanzania, CARE collaborates with the Government in both mainland and Zanzibar, as well as other stakeholders to transform communities, ensuring financial inclusion and independence, health and nutrition, and climate-smart development resilience, particularly for women and girls.

CARE Tanzania seeks to recruit dynamic qualified Tanzanians to fill four (4) positions to support the Country Office.

POSITION TITLE: Accounts Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Head of Finance and Operations
LOCATION: Dar-es-salaam

JOB SUMMARY

The Accounts Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the recording of accounting transactions, ensuring accurate financial records, managing treasury and cash flow, and liaising with banks. The position also ensures compliance with statutory payments and coordinates internal and external audits.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Review cash requirements and prepare cash forecasts.
  • Coordinate banking operations and maintain liaison with bankers.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of donor billing and grant receipts.
  • Ensure timely payments to vendors and review bank statements.
  • Work closely with HR for payroll processing and reconciliation.
  • Ensure statutory deductions are accurately recorded and remitted.
  • Coordinate recording of account payable and receivable transactions.
  • Ensure monthly reconciliation of accounts and proper month-end closure.
  • Manage external and internal audits and support timely implementation of findings.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and CARE policies.
  • Prepare and share required financial reports.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related fields.
  • Full professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICSA, or its equivalent.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant qualification is an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working in the INGO sector is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software applications.
  • Fluency in English language and written communication.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft software is an added advantage.
  • Strong planning, management, and coordination skills.
