Maternity Africa is a local nonprofit organization in Tanzania, devoted to helping make child birth safe and treating obstetrical fistulas. We support local communities, provide information to keep mothers and babies healthy, as well as excellent medical care and training to ensure safer deliveries.
We are looking to hire Accounts Officer who will be responsible for supporting all areas including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations and assist in preparing month end reports. If this sounds like the right place and position for you, we’d love to hear from you!


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enter financial transactions into accounting software
  • Prepare bank reconciliation weekly
  • Prepare authorized cash payments
  • Prepare authorized cheque payments
  • Reconcile petty cash daily
  • Maintain digital and physical financial records, including filing
  • Carry out reconciliations of account, general ledger, and sub-ledger.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly management account preparation
  • Assist in annual audit
  • Assist in budget preparation
  • Assist in preparing reports for donors
  • Prepare receipts for income received
  • Assist in the maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Assist in the maintenance and reconciliation of the inventory system
  • Assist in end of year or periodical stocktakes
  • Assist in the preparation and lodgement of required statutory documentation
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the supervisor

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Accounts.
  • Minimum two years experience preferably in a not-for-profit organization
  • High-level of proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft applications, and Excel
  • Strong understanding of relevant taxation laws
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
