AGRONOMIST (4 POSITIONS): - BABATI, MANYARA

The Agronomist will be assisting the Farm Manager in aspects of improving soil and crop management to increase productivity and sustainability of agricultural practices. He/she will be required to conduct research, develop strategies, and provide advice on the best practices for the farm/plantation productivity.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct soil tests and analyze crop performance to recommend improvements.
• Develop and test new farming techniques and crop varieties to enhance yield and quality.
• Design and oversee field trials to evaluate the effectiveness of different agricultural practices.
• Ensure professional execution on crop management, pest control, and soil conservation.
• Collect data on soil conditions, crop health, and environmental factors; analyze the data to identify trends and make recommendations.
• Promote and implement sustainable farming practices to protect the environment and improve long-term productivity.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions for our contract farmers and agricultural workers.
• Work with other agricultural professionals, such as soil scientists, plant breeders, and agricultural engineers, to develop comprehensive solutions.
• Ensure that farming practices comply with company guidelines and local regulations.
• Assisting the Plantation/Farm Manager with any other duties as and when required.

Job Requirements:

• Relevant Degree/Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related qualifications.
• At least 2+ years post experience in a similar position.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good command of computer applications.
