Overview
SOS Children’s Villages Zanzibar is a Local Non-Government Organization (NGO) affiliated with SOS Children’s International, a worldwide child care organization that works to protect and care for children who have lost parental care, or who stand at risk of losing it. Established 64 years ago, SOS Children's Villages International currently has Children's Villages and other projects in 135 countries around the world. Globally, it runs two major programs i.e. Family Based Care based at SOS Children's Villages and Family Strengthening Programmes supporting families in local communities. SOS has been working in the United Republic of Tanzania since 1991 and runs Children’s villages snd other projects in Tanzania, the organization runs four Children’s Villages in Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Zanzibar, and other programs in Pemba, Iringa, and Mufindi.
Job title: Assistant Accountant / Data Entry Clerk (1 post)

Reporting to: Senior Accountancy & Alternative Care Coordinator
The Data clerk receives reviews and enters data into the computer system or tracking database according to established procedures. He/she is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all data recorded and performs database maintenance functions.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Keeps track of received data and source documents.
- Prepares and sorts source documents, and identifies and interprets data to be entered.
- Contacts preparers of source documents to resolve questions. inconsistencies, or missing data. +
- Confirms accuracy of data such as canter name/location, days, and dates.
- Compares data entered with source documents.
- Reviews and makes necessary corrections to data entered.
- Complies, sorts, and verifies the accuracy of data to be entered.
- Reviews various data collection forms and suggest improvements if needed.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining an effective and efficient record management system.
- Generates reports and responds to inquiries regarding entered data as requested.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required
- Holder of Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Finance or statistics
- • Diploma in IT, Records Management, or related field from a recognized institution.
- Three years of experience in NGO.
- Fluency in English (both written and spoken).
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Analytical approach to work and professionalism.
- Ability to quickly understand the connections between working processes, to gain an overview of essential points, and to simplify (not to complicate) working procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-site organization with a matrix structure and a geographically-dispersed team,
