Assistant Operations Manager – Production data systems & Crop maintenance
Reports To: Operations Manager
Location: Arusha, Tanzania
Objective of the Role:
Provide management with crop inspection reports and other relevant data using the established production data systems.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pollen viability tests for all crops as per protocol prior to pollination.
- Perform crop inspections, record findings using the Proffi app, and input data into systems such as IBMS, ABS, and Seed2Seed.
- Supervise emasculation and pollination activities, ensuring proper pollen collection, distribution, and team instruction.
- Manage crop health through tasks like de-leafing, crop twisting, unwanted fruit removal, and managing diseased plants.
- Organize and manage duty schedules for weekends, public holidays, and annual leave, ensuring efficient and high-quality operations.
- Implement and supervise GSPP and farm protocols, suggesting improvements where necessary.
- Conduct producibility inspections throughout crop stages and maintain detailed records, including fruit counts, yield estimations, and pest observations.
- Report greenhouse maintenance issues to the Technical Production Support Manager and assist in day-to-day facility operations as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Experience in crop management, pollination, and greenhouse operations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using data management systems such as IBMS, ABS, and Seed2Seed is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of pollination, emasculation, and crop health management practices.
- Ability to work with production data systems and record detailed crop-related observations.
- Proven ability to supervise and guide teams effectively, ensuring high-quality performance.
- Quick decision-making and proactive management of maintenance and operational challenges.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with local and international teams.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in working with multiple related software, including maintenance management systems and data analysis tools.
