Patterson Group Limited is a registered company which deal with construction, logistics and trading. The company carries out all works related to trading, logistic, building constructions such as residential houses, commercial buildings and multi complex building and all civil works including road works, bridges construction and all works related to civil and building. To accomplish this, the company needs to recruit staff who are competent, analytical, experienced and hardworking individuals determined to go extra mile for their career growth and future.
Position Objectives
It is the primary objective of the Civil Engineer to plan, design and oversee construction and maintenance of building structures and infrastructure such as roads, railways, airports, bridges harbours, dams, irrigation projects, power plants and water and sewerage system. Reporting to the General Manager or Managing Director the Civil Engineer is accountable to provide service in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Civil Engineer is primarily responsible to:
• Undertaking technical and feasibility studies including site investigations;
• Using a range of computer software for developing detailed design;
• Undertaking complex calculations;
• Liaising with clients and a variety of professionals including architects and subcontractors;
• Compiling job specs and supervising tendering procedures;
• Resolving design and development problems;
• Managing budgets and project resources;
• Scheduling material and equipment purchase and delivers;
• Making sure that the project complies with legal requirements, especially health and safety;
• Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects;
• Ensuring projects run smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time.
Qualifications & Requirements (i.e. education, skills and experience)
The Civil Engineer should have good practical knowledge of company operations in the construction, supply and trading services sector and the foresight to see how the intricate day-to-day activities link with and support the achievement of the mission and vision of the Patterson Group Limited. In this regard, specific qualifications and requirements include:
• Bachelor in Civil Eng or Masters in Civil Eng;
• Sound Mathematical, Scientific and IT skills;
• The ability to think methodically and to manage projects;
• Problem solving skills;
• A minimum of five or six years of related experience;
• Strong people/relationship skills;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
