Communication Manager

You will be joining the Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications Department reporting to the Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications Manager in Morogoro.

This position is responsible for:

Strategic planning and implementation and delivery of JTI’s Media and communication plan that compliments JTI’s overall strategic direction, brand, culture and value and overall brand guidelines custodians, preparation and implementation of the communication strategy that leverages JTI’s events to maximize the publicity and awareness of the event, and JTI,  as well as the planning and implementation and delivery of JTI’s media and communication.


Management of communication relationship with stakeholders including growers, grower associations, regulators and government ministries and liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure that JTI’s  strategic direction, brand culture, and values are proactively promoted.


Management and utilisation of JTI’s various communication channels including newsletters, various publications, emails and other relevant mediums through the monitoring of media and current affairs development across a wide range of local and international media, preparing press statements and articles on topical issues for internal and external communication and providing strategic advice on managing media and communication issues as they arise.


Facilitating research and production of communication materials across the organization through media releases, briefs, and pursuing communication coverage to ensure JTI’s profile and activities are promoted.


Developing communication briefs to media and marketing agencies, manage the delivery of outputs from external agencies, developing service labor agreement with agencies and oversee the production of quality materials from suppliers in conjunction with the internal procurement team.


Compliance with both local and global EHS standards through practicing safe working techniques and reinforcing the safety guidelines, and procedures.


Participating in any of the project assigned by the line manager.

Key Requirements

  • University degree in mass communication or public relations
  • Experience in a similar role in an international company or significant local firm.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili both written and spoken
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office package(MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel)
  • Experience in content management systems
  • Graphic designing and photo editing skills will be an added advantage
