Overview
UONGOZI Institute seeks to inspire leaders and promote the recognition of the important role of leadership in sustainable development within Africa. Located in the President’s Office, United Republic of Tanzania, UONGOZI Institute provides training to leaders from Tanzania and beyond, organises high-level policy forums and dialogues, and carries out research on leadership and sustainable development.
We are currently seeking talented and dynamic communication professional with sound experience to help us support African leaders to strengthen their ability to better serve their organisations and nations.
Reporting to the CEO, Communications Manager will be responsible for designing, implementation and evaluation of communication initiatives that support the implementation of our Strategic Plan. He/She will inform stakeholders of our activities, products and services, and increase recognition of UONGOZI Institute in Tanzania, across sub-Saharan Africa and around the world.
This generalist communications position requires a person with advanced knowledge and experience in public relations, media relations, marketing, print and digital media.
We want someone who:
- Is a proficient writer, with an insightful ability to tailor and deliver messages. They will seek to engage audiences, rather than ‘tell’ them.
- Is a proactive relationship builder.
- Takes the initiative, and can foresee potential opportunities and problems.
- Has a strong work ethic, and is accomplished in facilitation and project management.
- Is scrupulous about attention to detail and meeting deadlines in their work and work others do for them.
- Projects a professional image, sensitive to potential issues and always discrete – as they will be interacting with senior government officials, former and current leaders of countries and international consultants.
