The Organization:

Search for Common Ground (Search) is the world's largest dedicated peacebuilding organization, founded in 1982. With programs across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the United States, Search transforms conflict with diverse tools inspired by its Common Ground Approach. Search is implementing a 10-year strategy to drive enduring change and transform many of the world's most consequential conflicts.
 

Project Summary:

The Northern Mozambique – Southern Tanzania Borderlands Project aims to enhance peace and stability in the border regions of Southern Tanzania and Northern Mozambique, with a focus on building community-level resilience against the influence of violent extremist groups. The project recognizes the need for holistic approaches that involve collaboration between key government, security, and community actors on both sides of the border. It is informed by participatory research and seeks to understand and support the approaches of stakeholders, fostering mutual trust and collaboration. The project has three primary objectives:
1) To strengthen understanding of conflict, instability, and violent extremism dynamics;
2) To establish and/or strengthen mechanisms for building resilience inclusively;
3) To address community grievances as a mitigation strategy against drivers of conflict and extremism.
 
It engages various stakeholders at national, sub-national, and community levels, with a focus on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and aims to provide spaces for marginalized communities to discuss concerns and engage with government and security actors. 
 

The Assignment:

The Consultant, a highly skilled and experienced professional with expertise in graphic design and web development, will play a crucial role in establishing the project's visual identity, creating branding materials, and developing the project's website and social media presence. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in graphic design, web development, and branding, with the ability to effectively convey the project's objectives and messages to diverse stakeholders. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate an understanding of international development contexts. 

Expected Deliverables:

  • Create project logo
  • Design cohesive project document templates (Microsoft Word & PowerPoint).
  • Develop and design the project website and social media pages.
  • Maintain website and social media pages sporadically over a 3 month period to spot any glitches and inconsistencies.
  •  Debrief Search media and communication focal point on how to maintain and update the website social media pages, ensuring alignment with organizational branding guidelines.

Competency Behavior Indicators (Qualifications & Competencies):

  • Strong background in graphic design with proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Experienced in creating and maintaining websites, including knowledge of HTML, CSS, and potentially content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace).
  • Experienced in designing product document templates. 
  • Ability to develop a strong visual identity for the project and ensure consistency across all project assets.
