Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation Tanzania, in partnership with The Global TB Program at Baylor College of Medicine Houston, is seeking to hire a Data Quality Assurance Officer (DQAO) for a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded project. This CDC project, Closing - TB GAPS - for people living with HIV: TB Guidance for Adaptable Patient Centered Service (TB GAPS), is a five-year global research project that will focus on finding and preventing tuberculosis, while simultaneously determining the most cost-effective prevention strategy and promoting best practices to sustain the impact of our work.
Position Summary:
The TB GAPS DQAO will be responsible for monitoring and overseeing site study data, providing ongoing study data management support for the Tanzania site, and will ensure timely and quality data collection, storage, retrieval, and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the TB GAPS Regional Data Manager by abiding by study policies and procedures.
- Work closely with DQAOs and M&E Officers at all five sub–Saharan African implementing site
- Operationalize and manage BIPAI Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other Baylor-Tanzania databases.
- Conduct monthly data review, including regulatory review to check adherence to the protocol and manual of procedures and ensure quality data is collected.
- Responsible for implementing quality control activities for data integrity – audit data and create reports on a regular basis.
- Identify data entry and quality errors and communicate with study teams for clarification and amendments.
- Manage and troubleshooting electronic medical records and Redcap data capturing systems.
- Oversee site data management work performed by project staff.
- Ensure data system is operational and regularly backed up
- Ensure site is following project timelines for data collection and meets set deadlines.
- Assist with configuration of the database and continuous integration environments.
- Perform and document procedures for data preparation including data cleaning, standardization and analysis
- Supports database integration software (MYSQL, MS SQL, SQL, ORACLE, Power BI, NoSQL)
- Familiarity in organizing, conducting, and supporting data retrieval and analysis from National databases.
- Develop database queries and conduct statistical analysis of data collected and/or retrieved to support programme activities.
- Develop specifications for data capture and input, and to monitor input and ensure consistency and quality of the data.
- Provide technical assistance and training to data management and other staff members on data model design/maintenance, retrieval, and analysis.
- Ensure that all variables for routine reporting are identified and data sources documented.
- Collaboratively work and provide technical support to Tb gaps team and all Baylor-Tanzania programs in accessing, interpreting, and analyzing available data
- Participate in the preparation and presentation of data, when applicable
- Disseminate information on the outcomes and impact of interventions on target beneficiaries.
- Perform related assignments from time to time as instructed by Supervisors or required by Management team.
Qualifications / Skills
- University degree in a public health, Computer science in Statistics, social sciences, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in USAID and or related Programs tasked with evaluation and operational research (TB/HIV experience desirable)
- Experience with data entry and quality assurance processes
- English, Swahili proficiency
- Proved excellence in planning and organizational skills.
- Certification of Competency with Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word and related products.
- Knowledge of other Database Languages a plus
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multicultural teams.
