SportPesa Limited is currently looking for a qualified and energetic Tanzanian to fill the position of a Database Administrator. Essential Function: A Database Administrator with data analytics responsibilities will manage and maintain our database systems, ensuring their performance, security, and reliability. Additionally, the role includes performing data analytics tasks to support our data-driven decision-making processes. The candidate will report to the Head of IT and collaborate with various departments to meet their data needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, install, configure, and maintain database systems.
• Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
• Ensure database security by developing/enforcing policies, procedures, and controls.
• Backup and restore databases to prevent data loss.
• Optimize database systems for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with Senior Database Administrators to optimize queries and database designs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Manage database access and permissions.
• Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data for analysis.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Develop and maintain data models, reports, and dashboards.
• Collaborate with various departments to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.
• Perform data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation.
• Design and conduct experiments to validate data-driven hypotheses.
• Visualize data and present findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.

Desirable Qualifications:

• At least 3 years' experience as a Database Administrator.
• Experience in data analysis and data science methodologies.
• Proficiency in SQL and database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
• Experience with data science tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Proficient in data manipulation and analysis.
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Knowledge of big data technologies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Proactive and able to work independently.
• Strong commitment to data integrity and security.
