  • Kisora Ward – Villages of Bwanja, Sunsi and Nambubi, Bunda District, Mara Region

The project involves large-scale commercial production of MPUNGA along with other crops according to the company’s plan.

Pacon Enterprises Group is a business involved in significant investment in the agriculture sector. The company owns and manages over 20,000 acres of farmland engaged in various farming projects, especially MPUNGA on a commercial scale.

Due to its expansion activities in Kisora Ward, the company seeks an experienced Farm Operations Manager with strong leadership skills, resource management expertise, and ensures production is carried out efficiently, of high quality, and at optimal levels.

Main Responsibilities (Focusing on MPUNGA Project)

Oversee the Entire Production Cycle of MPUNGA

  • Manage field preparations: plowing, leveling land, preparing irrigation furrows.
  • Supervise selection of quality MPUNGA seeds and planting schedule based on the season.
  • Manage weeding, planting, irrigating, and proper water management in fields.
  • Oversee application of fertilizer and control of diseases, pests, and weeds.
  • Monitor crop growth until harvest, drying, storage according to market standards.
  • Ensure production targets per acre are met or exceeded.

Manage Staffing and Resources

  • Oversee all staff and workers of the project ensuring discipline, efficiency, and job accountability.
  • Schedule work plans and ensure timely execution without delays.
  • Take strict disciplinary action for any misconduct or rule violations at the workplace.
  • Ensure working environment aligns with company goals and project efficiency.

Continuous Accountability to Managing Director

The Manager must be present on-site throughout the project’s operational period (Full-time Business). Absence without valid reasons will not be tolerated, breaching employment agreements.

Prompt Asset Management of Company Assets

  • Maintain and manage: Vehicles for transportation, Irrigation pumps, Power tillers, Communication devices (Tablets, Computers).
  • Regularly inspect equipment. Damage or misuse of company assets will not be tolerated.

Daily Reporting

  • Submit daily progress reports on the MPUNGA project to the Managing Director twice a day.
  • Report crop growth status, challenges faced, resource usage, and actions taken.
  • Send updates electronically via Tablet or Computer.

Professional Advice

  • Suggest effective methods to increase yield and reduce production costs.
  • Advise on the best types of MPUNGA suited to Kisora’s environment.
  • Take early actions against climate change impacts.

Applicant Requirements

  • Direct experience in MPUNGA farming (mandatory).
  • In-depth understanding of irrigation systems for MPUNGA farms.
  • Knowledge of the geography and ecology of Kisora Ward.
  • Certification in Agriculture Science or related training is preferred.
  • Able to use Tablets/Computers for report submissions.
  • Highest level of integrity in financial resource management.
  • Discipline, accountability and ability to work under supervision.
