Finance Lead - Dar es Salaam
Position Summary
Tembo Nickel is seeking a Finance Lead to join the Kabanga Nickel Project Team. This role will drive the project financially, encompassing budgeting, cost allocation, reporting, and governance. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Key Focusing Areas
- Corporate financial reporting and creation of statutory accounts.
- Day-to-day ownership of accounting functions, including month-end close.
- Cost and management reporting to site and Group based in London.
- Internal control and SOX compliance management.
- Management of local and Group audit timelines.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy for local companies and Group reporting.
- Maintaining financial governance, internal controls, and SOX compliance to Group standards.
- Meeting all internal and external reporting deadlines.
- Producing timely monthly cost centre management accounts and qualitative commentary against the budget.
- Assisting the CFO in preparing budgets, forecasts, and presentations.
- Ensuring timely completion of daily, month-end financial accounting tasks (e.g., reconciliations, legal filings).
- Assisting the CFO in standardizing processes between Group and project sites.
- Identifying and reporting accounting issues; supporting SOP documentation.
- Coordinating CFO and integrated planning meetings with Heads of Department.
- Reviewing operating capital expenditure and forecasts to optimize ROI.
- Assisting the CFO in developing and maintaining financial strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Ensuring adherence to legislative and corporate governance requirements.
- Communicating audit findings, best practices, and improvement recommendations to senior management.
- Leading, mentoring, and managing the finance team.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Degree in Accounting and Finance, Economics, or a relevant field.
- Professional Accounting qualification (CPA and ACCA preferred).
- At least eight years of experience with a global audit firm.
- Experience in a listed company.
- SOX experience.
- Proficiency in audit processes, financial reporting, and IFRS.
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with financial software.
- Mining industry experience.
