JOB IDENTIFICATION

JOB TITLE: Financial Controller

GRADE: Senior Manager/Manager

FUNCTION: Finance

LOCATION: Mbeya.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

DIRECTLY REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer, General Manager-Mbeya Region

DIRECTLY SUPERVISE: Accounts Team

Support the development of timely, accurate and cost effective statutory reporting in accordance with local and HQ requirements. Provide financial stewardship of company assets and activities by ensuring an accurate assessment of financial condition. Lead the implementation of an efficient system of internal controls, financial processes and procedures that are responsive to the needs of customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders. Ensure compliance with relevant statutory bodies and laws.

Financial Control and Asset Stewardship

Execute and sustain the necessary processes for effective financial controls and stewardship.
Create, maintain, regularly update and ensure on-going compliance of company’s accounting manual and procedures.
Lead for on-going review of SOPs governing the main processes in the company (end-to-end)
Ensure timely implementation of internal and external audit recommendations
Ensure creditor accounts are properly maintained and reconciled on regular basis.
Ensure timely sales and cash reconciliations and reporting as per company policies

Financial Reporting and Transaction Processing

Support implementation of Best Practice Tools which improve the accuracy, timeliness and cost effectiveness of financial transaction processing and reporting
Ensure financial accounting reports accurately reflect the financial condition of the business as required by International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Liaise with external auditors and provide all necessary information for accurate rendering of Company accounts.

Compliance

Support compliance with local corporate and statutory laws, rules and regulations
Identify and pursue implementation of tax savings initiatives

Other Duties

Signatory to Company payment vouchers, statutory documents and financial documents.
Duties/tasks assigned by CFO from time to time.

OBJECTIVE:

Accurate and timely recording and reporting of financial transactions and adherence to internal controls to maintain the integrity of all company financial assets.
Liaise and comply with the requirements of relevant statutory bodies/laws.

INDICATORS:

Level of company-wide adherence to accounting policies, procedures and controls. Quality of bookkeeping, accuracy of records, trial balance and sub-ledgers etc; accessibility and usefulness of information. Minimize sanctions for non-compliance with regulatory bodies and laws.

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

B.Sc. degree-Accounting/MBA (Finance)/Masters degree in Economics etc.
CPA Tanzania (i.e. member of NBAA Tanzania) OR member of an international accounting association/institute that is recognized by NBAA Tanzania.

WORK EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Min 8 years working experience, out of which minimum 5 years at Manager/FC level.
Hands-on Finance Manager/FC level experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment is a must. Experience of 3+years in Finance/Accounts department in beverages industry is highly desirable.

SPECIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Proven track record of demonstrated professional integrity and work ethics.
Proficiency in known ERPs (strong preference for experience with Microsoft Dynamics/Navision) is a must.
Strong Knowledge of IAS and IFRS
Fundamental tax competency
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Results-oriented takes initiatives to get things done
Team player adapts well in a diverse environment
