The story

Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) is a locally registered NGO first established in 1994. It is the largest indigenous provider of disability and rehabilitation services in the country. CCBRT aims to empower people with disabilities and their families, improve their quality of life, and ensure access to medical and rehabilitative treatment. Committed to preventing disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities and is currently constructing a Maternity and Newborn Hospital.

In order to establish a new approach, CCBRT is looking for a motivated and matured individual to take the duties as Head of Orthopedics Department at CCBRT.

The role

The Head of Orthopaedics plays a critical role in overseeing the clinical, operational, and strategic aspects of the orthopaedics department. This position requires a combination of medical expertise, leadership abilities, and management skills to ensure the provision of high-quality care, effective management of resources, and continuous improvement in patient outcomes. The HOD of Orthopaedics must also be an advocate for innovation, helping the department stay at the forefront of medical advancements in the field.

Oversee the management of complex and high-risk orthopaedic cases and offer clinical guidance on difficult diagnoses, treatments, and surgeries as well as supervise and guide orthopaedic surgeons, residents, and medical staff to ensure the delivery of evidence-based, compassionate, and safe patient care.

The candidate

  • Is a recognized and licensed clinical specialist graduated from a well-recognized institution
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Must be clinically active i.e doing surgery for surgical specialty
  • MBA/MPH is an added advantage.
  • Has strong written and verbal communication skills (English and Kiswahili)
  • Is proficient in basic computer use.
  • Is energetic, pro-active and hands-on.
  • Is persistent and result-driven.
  • Has the ability to deal with problematic clients.
