This is a seconded position within the Health Promotion Section (HPS) of the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MOHCDGEC), hence will be the liaison person for coordinating implementation of results areas 2 (Strengthened community support for health behaviours) and 3 (Improved systems for coordination and implementation of SBCC interventions) under the USAID Tulonge Afya project. Will work alongside two other focal persons for Communications and Monitoring and Evaluation to ensure a smooth coordination of SBCC activities between the USAID Tulonge Afya project and the MOHCDGEC, notably the HPS and other MOHCDGEC departments, sections and programs. This position also entails a technical role in supporting the HPS in developing its SBCC strategic documents including Coordination Framework and Capacity Strengthening Frameworks and managing the logistics for their implementation. Additionally will liaise with PORALG to ensure project adherence to the necessary protocols and procedures for implementation of USAID Tulonge Afya’s community 1strategy and other activities in the supported regions and districts.
Also specifically responsible for
(a) Capacity and Institutional Strengthening-which includes leading in developing- implementation plans for the Capacity Strengthening and Community Support areas of the Project in collaboration with USAID Tulonge Afya; Providing technical support in the development and implementation of SBCC strategic documents including the SBCC Coordination Framework and SBCC Capacity Strengthening Framework;
(b) Rationalization of SBCC activities- including coordinating the regional collaborative and periodic meetings of health promotion coordinators in all supported regions and districts; Supporting the community SBCC work carried out by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) grantees in all supported regions;
(c) Coordination of SBCC work between the USAID Tulonge Afya project and the MOHCDGEC, including developing and maintaining a coordination tool to ensure harmonization of joint schedules between all results areas of USAID Tulonge Afya Project and all collaborating departments, units and health ‘programs in the Ministry of Health; Managing logistical, administrative and protocol issues required at HPS, MOHCDGEC and PORALG for operationalization of the USAID Tulonge Afya Project work plan; (d) Providing Technical assistance to the Assistant Director HPS for capacity building and coordination of Health Promotion issues at national, regional and district levels.
Requirements:
- MS/MA with 3-5 years in public health, or health promotion OR BS/BA with 5-7 years’ experience in similar/related field· At least 5 or more years of work experience with a public health organization, some of which- should be at management level capacity. Specific training and experience in SBCC is an added advantage. Experience working in a health promotion or SBCC program
- Experience in coordinating program activities in multi-stakeholder and
- multi-disciplinary settings
- Demonstrated’ experience of working collaboratively with the MoHCDGEC and PORALG
- Experience with USAID and other donor-funded projects is an added advantage- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills are essential, including the ability to present concepts verbally.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences and organizations essential- Must be self-motivated with an a-positive and professional approach to management. Exhibits strong collaborative spirit, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and manage a high-volume work now- Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office essential. Fluency in both English and Kiswahili.
