Position: HSE specialist
Working Location: Mkuranga GlassFactory.

Job summary;

We are currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer to join our team. As the HSE Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees through effective health and safety
measures.

Key Activities

  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environment policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards and risks, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Provide training and education to employees on health and safety practices, emergency procedures, and the use of safety equipment.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and administer first aid and medical treatment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of workplace incidents, injuries, and near misses, and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to develop and implement safety initiatives and programs aimed at reducing accidents and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Conduct investigations into workplace incidents and accidents, and prepare reports with recommendations for preventive measures.
  • Stay updated on relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards, and ensure that the organization remains in compliance with all applicable laws

 

Academic Qualification and skills required

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Certified in First Aid.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in health, safety, and environment management, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety concerns.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and safety management software.
