Job Description

Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd has an exciting opportunity in Manufacturing department. We are looking for talented individuals with relevant skills and experience in food science technology for Incoming Raw Material Quality Controller position based in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will directly report to the respective Quality Assurance Technologist.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for; 

1. Monitor and Analyse Package Quality

  • Control Quality in On-site produced preforms & closures– sampling and testing according to incoming inspection protocols.
  • Control Quality in Blown bottles– sampling and testing according to incoming inspection protocols.
  • Communicate any non-conformances to the Line Team Leader, QAT and SHEQ manager & ensure that non-conforming materials are isolated or released.
  • Ensure that non-conforming materials are segregated, identified and marked as per non-conforming material procedure.
  • Ensure that results are recorded on Infinity system.

2. Interpreting Results

  • Reviews results of analysis daily to identify problems.
  • Interacts with lab technicians, production management and operating team on a daily or ad hoc basis to communicate results and highlight problems.
  • Ensures that where problems have been highlighted a resolution has been identified.
  • Completes required reports and communicates findings at feedback meetings.

3. Drive problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives 

  • Support of shift teams and unit teams in problem solving, also reviewing outputs of problem-solving sessions
  • Interpretation of SPC data and assisting teams to use this information in problem solving sessions.
  • Monitoring of effectiveness of corrective actions to solve issues.
  • Identify improvement

4. Manage the Laboratory

  • Comply with quality systems, standards and practices
  • Interpret and apply GLP and GMP requirements in the laboratory
  • Comply with requirements of the QMS, policies, SOP’s and work instructions

5. Maintain safety, health and environment standards

  • Comply with safe working procedures / signage and standards
  • Request personal protective equipment and use and maintain this in accordance with procedures and legislation
  • Carry out work according to relevant Environment, Health and Safety standards
  • Apply knowledge of company commitment and priorities on Sustainable Development issues as well as local targets and initiatives to identify opportunities for action
  • Make a personal contribution, and encourage team members to make a tangible difference in achieving SD targets (water, energy and waste)
  • Contribute to the management of SD issues to achieve key sustainable development targets

6. Auditing

  • Reviews regularly the auditing schedule to identify the monthly, quarterly or ad hoc quality audits required.
  • Interacts with lab technicians, production and operational teams to obtain required information for quality audit.
  • Completes the audit reports and provides feedback to the QC manager and findings at feedback meetings.

7. Manage self

  • Communicate professionally
  • Pro-actively encourage participation, problem solving and idea sharing in team meetings and daily interactions to continuously entrench thinking and application of WCM principles
  • Develop self-awareness

Skills, Experience & Education

The incumbent should have at least a Degree in Food Science technology, 2 years practical relevant experience preferably with FMCG, computer literate, flexible team player and team builder, assertive and persuasive, problem solving technique and demonstrate high integrity.
