JOB TITLE: Lab Manager

Job Description:

  • Develop, manage and maintain health and fruitful relations with all existing and potential Lab’s partners and stakeholders.
  • Design Lab’s program(s) and project(s) structure, success criteria, timeline, and milestones.
  • Recruit Lab mentors, professional coaches, and interns.
  • Prepare Lab’s proposal for local and international partners.
  • Conduct Lab’s program(s) and project(s) performance assessment and prepare the reports accordingly.
  • Serve as a key resource in planning and executing Lab’s events to raise awareness of Smart Lab.
  • Liaising with the technical and financial team both internal and external on billing collection and service offerings.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing Lab’s product to competitors' products.
  • Manage operational requirements by scheduling and assigning Lab team’s tasks and following up on work results.
  • Have an updated knowledge on competitor initiatives in the similar products area and of best of practice relevant to international benchmarks.
  • Maintain and improve the quality of the products.
  • Ascertain growth opportunities of the Lab in general.
  • Maintain active interaction with the team involved to arrive at the desired business objectives.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending relevant trainings; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Work with other managers to support new business development opportunities.
  • Develop best practices to achieve department goals.
  • Ensure that all staffs follow department policies and procedures.
  • Analyse any department related issues and provide immediate resolutions.
  • Organise trainings to improve technical skills of department staffs.
  • Assist in employee recruitment, performance evaluation, promotion, retention and termination activities.
  • Schedule regular client and department meetings.
  • Ensure service levels meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Address employee grievances and build positive working environment for employees.
  • Develop department budgets and establish cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Observing, analyzing, and offering suggestions on current operations.
  • Ensuring all health and safety, as well as company regulations are followed by your team at all times.
  • Liaising with staff and organizing teambuilding events that take everyone's needs into account.
  • Conducting research, writing up reports, and presenting findings to the management and other stakeholders.
  • Drive new growth opportunities by identifying, prioritizing, developing, and launching new products, services and business models.
  • Build and grow innovation capabilities by create new organisational capabilities, including technical and people-driven, that ensure a steady stream of innovations.
  • Championing innovation by evangelise innovation internally and externally to influence the brand in the market and create pull for creative talent.
  • Ensures the company is successful in taking its innovations to market in a timely and scalable way.
  • Uses innovation to differentiate the company in the market, provide unique value to customers and help build long-term relationships with customers.
  • Evangelises innovation so the company is viewed as innovative, visionary and a market leader by customers, industry groups and media.
  • Develops strategic plan by studying technological and financial opportunities, presenting analysis, and recommending objectives.
