Job Position: LAND ACQUISITION COORDINATOR (INTERNATIONAL) TZ
Job Description
Qualification required: Degree in Social Science, Social Anthropology, Sociology, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum experience: 15-20 years of professional working experience with a minimum of 10 years of proven experience in extractive and construction industry.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in designing, implementing and monitoring Land Acquisition, Resettlement and Livelihood Restoration programs.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in designing, implementation, and monitoring Stakeholder engagement related Resettlement activities.
Accountabilities: Ensuring Resettlement Planning activities are completed to meet budget and schedule.

Responsibilities:
The Land Acquisition Coordinator (International) Tz is responsible for monitoring valuation and resettlement planning activities for physically and economically impacted stakeholders, as undertaken by the Resettlement Planning Contractor/s; and Coordinating land and resettlement-related engagement with Government of Tanzania (GoT) representatives and other relevant stakeholder groups.
S/he provides practical and hands-on support to the Land and Social Manager and the Project’s Strategic Advisor on Land acquisition and resettlement through the following activities:

- • Coordinating and Supervising the Company Dar and field-based Resettlement Planning team.
- • Coaching, training and upskilling the Company Dar and field-based Resettlement Planning team Undertaking technical review of the outputs/deliverables of the Resettlement Planning Contractor/s;
- • Monitoring the field activities of the Resettlement Planning Contractor/s for land acquisition planning; Coordinating the interface between resettlement planning activities and other organization departments;
- • Supporting the creation of the land management module within the ESMS Project Management System and management of all land data generated during the Resettlement Planning phase;
- • Coordinating additional Resettlement Planning activities with relevant contractors.
S/he will also conduct the following activities:
Resettlement Planning Contractors Performance - • Reviews Resettlement Planning Contractors’ deliverables and ensures that all deliverables have been received and approved.
- • Organizes regular progress meetings with contractors and reports progress against planning.
- • Monitors Resettlement Planning Contractors’ overall performance and identifies deficiencies and any need for corrective action
- • Overall management of Resettlement Planning Contractors and associated sub-contractors.
Resettlement Planning
- • Participates in shaping, defining, and implementing appropriate stakeholder engagement to support the Resettlement Planning process.
- • Participates in and monitors the Resettlement Planning Contractors’ engagement strategy Coordinates National level stakeholders through the Land and Resettlement Working Group .
- • Identifies risks at the regional or local level to the implementation of the Resettlement Policy
- • Framework and Resettlement Action Plan and alerts management to these risks.
Land Management module and Data Management - • Ensures that all Resettlement Planning grievances are captured and resolved, as possible.
- • Coordinates with Resettlement Planning Contractors to ensure delivery of all Resettlement Planning data/databases/forms etc. into the organization ESMS land module when available.
- • Provides technical input to the ESMS tool Project Manager for the development of the Land Management module.
Support to other Activities - • Monitors temporary land access procedures for Project activities which require short term land access.
Compliance and Reporting - • Conducts compliance reporting on weekly and monthly basis, including maintaining Resettlement Planning dashboards.
- • Coordinates lender reporting related to Resettlement Planning and ensures such reporting is completed as per required timeframes.
Requirements:
- • Demonstrated understanding of EPCM and EPC Contractor operations.
- • Proven ability to work independently, mentor, coach and manage teams.
- • Proven ability to multitask and willingness to work in the field.
- • Proven ability to deliver whole work packages, rapidly progress tasks and deliver meaningful reports to senior management.
- • Excellent Computer and analytical skills.
- • Fluency in English (written and spoken) essential, Spoken Swahili an advantage.
