Leaf Production Trainee

You will be joining the Leaf Production Department Reporting to the Area Manager in Tabora.

This position is responsible for:

Monitor and control all aspects of the growing and sales operations to cover production from seed to sale of product and including transportation from farm to sales floors and to factories/warehouses.  

Monitoring farm activities by conducting weekly farmers visits, documenting progress, re-alignment of production and quality expectations and generating reports to be cascaded into weekly, fortnightly, and monthly summaries of visits.

Provide extension services to all farmers by drafting and budgeting a field day plan for the season along with the goals of each field day identified and covering each stage of the tobacco production process in the program

Monitor local weather and rainfall patterns by quantifying expected impact of variants on the patterns to expected output and quality and report accordingly, monitor local against the average 5-year rainfall pattern for the area and gather Cost of production information that is required by the Department Lead.

Comply with initial Mass Agricultural standards, Agriculture Labor Practices, and SRP requirements through advocating the elimination of child labor and no tobacco-related materials(NTRM) through farmer sensitization.

Facilitates the implementation of agroforestry/barn initiatives as per plan.

Maintaining and monitoring company issued equipment such as computers/ GPS devices and the Company allocated Motorcycle to manufacturer specification or best practices and ensure that this is done within the defined budget allocations.

Practicing safe working techniques and reinforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures in line with both local and Global EHS standards.

Perform any other tasks or processes required by the Area Supervisor, Area Manager or Department Lead.

Key requirements:

·         Diploma/ Certificate/Bachelor in Agriculture or Extension Services,

·         Newly graduated

·         Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office package

·         Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili
