Leaf Qualify Buying Manager

You will be joining the Leaf Quality Department reporting to the Leaf Qualify Director in Morogoro

This position is responsible for

Facilitate the Leaf Buying process by ensuring that daily intake is in line with set targets across all Central Market and other centeres, providing appropriate advice and skill transfer to the buying team, ensuring that the prices and that the prices for JTI grades are in line with Pricing Proposal set prices nd that the direct pricing policy is being implemtented effectively to secure the contracted crop, ensuring that the tobacco qualities purchased are in line with JTI grade standards and are within the correct pricing segements, monitoring daily market trends on volume and pricing to ensure alignmement to JTI LS volume and pricing fairly and in line with industry regulations to ensure amicable settling of price, quality, and NTRM disputes

Monitoring Buying Grades Classification by ensuring team alignment when classifying all tobacco to ensure grade consistency for all purchased grades, ensuring TTB classification at all markets is fair and consistent with the offered qualities and leaf quality analysis by the team is in line with GLQ and LPI requirements and providing leaf skill and knowledge transfer to the processing team to ensure that there is consistent and acceptable blending during processing season.  Management of the Leaf Buying them through ensuring that there is adequate buying, classification, quality checking people resource deployment to enable JTI LS to be represented sufficiently, instilling discipline within the Leaf team to ensure that JTI values and principles are adhered to during the market proceedings to uphold JTI image and ensuring people development within the buying team to ensure abundance of leaf skill base at all times

Leaf Administration through effective use fo LeafPoint in monitoring daily volume intake of all individual grades and daily average prices for all individual grades to ensure the leaf is purchased within forecasted prices, ensuring that all NRTM identified bales are recorded accurately and reports produced and distributed together with weekly buying reports

Leaf Stakeholders Engagement through ensuring TTP are effectively engaged daily to ensure smooth operations on sale proceedings, Leaf Buying Team is above board and in line with JTI regulations and practices to ensure continued existence and professional and appropriate conduct within leaf Buying team when interacting with other functions in particular, Agronomy and Factory to achieve set leaf quality within reasonable durations

Participating in cross-functional projects as assigned by the functional director and carrying out any other  duties outside daily scope as assigned by the JTI LS Excom

Key Requirements

·         ACSEE(A Level Certificate)

·         10 years experience within the tobacco industry in the tobacco procurement process

·         High level of tobacco knowledge with minimum of 8 years buying experience

·         Good health, ability to stand and walk for long periods, mental agility for buying

·         Fluency in English and Swahili (spoken and Written)

·         Computer literacy including use of Microsoft Office products(Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
